As part of our commitment to excellent health care, we ensure that our staff keeps up with new approaches, information and techniques.
Our staff members enjoy ongoing education by attending national conferences, in-house training, and support for external professional development. This is extended to all areas of our workforce, from nursing staff to kitchen and engineering teams.
Our Staff Development Department provides all staff with education opportunities and career development paths. We have a dedicated policy for financial assistance and study leave support as well as scholarships for educational opportunities.
Orientation, induction and mandatory training are provided for all staff on site.
Many of our in-house training programs are endorsed by the Royal College of Nursing, Australia’s APEC program, and Continued Nurse Education.
We work in partnership with three universities to ensure our undergraduate nurses gain valuable experience and evidence-based knowledge and skills.
St Vincent’s Toowoomba has partnerships with the University of Southern Queensland, Australian Catholic University (ACU) and the University of Queensland. Each university has members of staff at the hospital, who support the learning needs of students.
Students attend the ACU SVPHT Clinical School for Education to use its simulation labs and lecture theatre.
