Rooms And Support Person Accommodation

Your partner or support person is welcome to stay with you in your room on the day of your delivery. Reclining chairs (subject to availability) are provided.
Support people are not permitted to stay in shared patient rooms, but can stay in a private room.
If you would like your partner or support person to board with you, please advise your midwife or nurse as soon as possible, as only one adult support person is permitted to board per room.
If you elect to stay in a private room to enable your partner or support person to stay with you, then you will be required to pay an additional fee for a private room, if this is not covered by your health insurer.

Registering support people

Support people must complete a registration form, so that they understand the conditions under which they are boarding and to help us account for them in an emergency.

The cost of your support person staying in your room

Support people will be charged a daily fee to cover the cost of their overnight accommodation. Meals can also be supplied at an additional cost. Please note that these fees are not refundable from your health insurer.

Staying in a hospital

It is important that support people remember that they are staying in a hospital with routines that should not be interrupted. Patients and babies wake, require care and feed often during the night and during these times staff may need to turn on lights to provide care. If your partner/support person needs to work the following day, you should take this into consideration when deciding whether they stay with you.
