Preparing for hospital

On your day of admission please present to the Front Admission Desk at Entrance 1, accessible from Scott Street.  You will have been contacted by our pre-admission clinic on the day prior with your admission time and fasting requirements.

You will be escorted to the Surgical Admission Unit and prepared for your procedure by our nursing staff. You will be transferred to the Operating Theatre or the Endoscopy Suite from the Surgical Admission Unit.

Once your procedure is complete, you will return to Day Surgery for a period of time until you are well enough to be discharged. Patients staying overnight will be transferred to a room in one of our Units/Wards.

Due to limited space, we request that only one (1) person accompanies you on admission.

If a child is undergoing a procedure, two (2) adults may accompany the child.

Please note: arriving early does not necessarily mean you will be admitted earlier. Patient admissions are prioritised based on the surgeon’s operating list.

Personal preparation

Please shower on the day of your admission, before coming to hospital. Ensure you do not wear talcum powder, hairspray, jewellery, deodorant, perfumes or makeup.

Wear garments that are comfortable and easy to remove including comfortable shoes with a non-slip sole.
